My father bought a plot of land on Rumah Road, far from the electricity service lines, hoping the grid would eventually reach it. He built a rest house there, but the electricity connection never came.
As an engineer, I took it upon myself to build a solar power system. It was my first solar project on this scale. Thankfully, it powered the lights throughout the night, the air conditioning and everything else the rest house needed—as though it were connected to the grid. I had solved a real problem.
Everyone who saw it was impressed by the quality of the materials and the workmanship. With household electricity costs rising, I became determined to help ease that burden through effective solutions.
